This class will teach you how to take your camera out of Auto Mode and how to use your camera's Creative Controls so you can take better photos.
This class will teach you how to use your camera to take those kind of amazing pictures that you see and wish you could take. This workshop will teach you the controls you need in order to make your images go from boring to breathtaking. Whether you want to learn how to take better pictures of your family, or you need better documenation of your business for your blog, or you just want to take overall better pictures, this workshop is for you! Some of the many things you will learn in this workshop:
· Aperture, shutter speed, and ISO
· How to freeze and blur motion
· How to blur the background and make your subject stand out
· Direct light vs diffused light and how this affects your photos
· Simple composition rules that will give your pictures the WOW factor
· How to use the built-flash on your camera

The class will be divided into four components:
· Composition guidelines
· Technical information
· Photo walk where you can put in practice what you just learned! Don’t worry, I’ll be with you in case you have any questions!
· Review of images
What you will need:
· your SLR camera (make sure the battery is fully charged!)
· proper SD or flash card for your camer

About the Instructor:
Tina Gionis is an event and portrait photographer based in Nashville. In additon to being a professional photographer, she teaches photography at the college level and is a visual artist working with photography and video. She holds a Master of Fine Arts Degree in Photography and Video and studied documentary photography at the International Center of Photography in New York City. She lived in Asia for ten years working as a travel photographer and regularly goes back, whether it’s to film a documentary or teach photography seminars.
